Well, I can’t have you all over for tea and scones, so I’ll just take you on a tour around the yard. This is more of what’s going on in my (outside) world:
The hens want out. They want out, badly. I almost feel cruel just walking by, leaving their door shut. But I like the tender seedlings growing in my garden, so they can just scratch at the bit of earth they have and choose to be happy. And lay us some more eggs.
Here is my puppy. He’s 10 months old and larger than my yellow lab. He is a maremma and very ACTIVE!
Peaches are actually growing! This is their second year; the tree is shorter than I am, but its branches have about a dozen peaches. I can’t wait to pick a ripe one! Assuming of course the sun will come out and do its thing…
Love these roses against the striped grass. So pretty.
I bought these pink hydrangeas from a wonderful nursery that was bought out (forced out) by a big company. A lot of us were pretty stinkin’ mad at the whole deal.
The tomatoes are growing well in the greenhouse. My honeybees usually make it inside to pollinate, but they’ve been content to stay out of the wet weather. We’ll see how much fruit sets…
I planted valerian from seed. Do they like to spread! But I think they smell nice and look lovely.
Blackberries are coming on like crazy. No one around here plants them. We just pick them and then yank them out from the middle of our yards and gardens on a regular basis.
These are another of naturally growing flowers in our area: foxgloves. They’re toxic, but check out the amazing landing pad they have for bees! It looks like an airport’s landing strip!
I planted these calendula from seed. What a wonderful herb to treat wounds with; they are almost always in my boo-boo salves.
The lilies were shared by a sweet friend of mine. Spliting garden treasures is a wonderful thing to do!
Batchelor’s buttons for floral bouquets in a pretty blue…
…and borage blooming. I love picking the borage blossoms, freezing them in water in ice cube trays, and putting them into summer drinks. Pretty and gives a quite tasty flavor, too!
It looks like we’ll have plenty of green peas to pick.
Yarrow grows in the “weeds”. Some of the best herbs are (ahem) “weeds”. Fever-killers, these are.
Grape colored poppies! This is the third year I tried planting them and here they finally are! I just love them.
And we redid our raspberry beds. Again. I hope the next owner enjoys these berries.
That’s lavender on the left. I don’t think I could ever grow too much lavender. I have dreams of planting fields of lavender.
And there’s our puppy saying “bye bye”. Goooooood puppy, mwah!
Blessings,
