I was following a crockpot recipe from a cookbook written by a fellow blogger when I came across an ingredient I didn’t have on hand: herbes de provence. I used to have available to me every spice and seasoning available (or so it seemed), but over the years I’ve weeded out the ones I hardly use. Like herbes de provence.
So I checked online and found a recipe. I was pretty excited as I went down the list because I had every one of the seasonings from my last summer’s garden ready and dried! So after I did my little snoopy dance, I measured and put together my own herbes de provence mix:
2 1/2 TB oregano
2 1/2 TB thyme
2 TB savory
2 TB lavender
1 tsp basil
1 tsp sage
1 tsp rosemary
2 1/2 TB thyme
2 TB savory
2 TB lavender
1 tsp basil
1 tsp sage
1 tsp rosemary
It’s beautiful. It smells incredible. Now I just need to find more recipes that use this mix. And more seeds to grow twice as many plants this year so that I will have plenty leftover to share.
