I can sense winter is coming to an end. I have goat kids in the pen (pics soon!), a package of honeybees for my second hive on order, seeds ready to start and blackberry brambles to tackle before they get whiff of spring. Which means my time for the indoor crafting is slowly coming to an end, too. Well….mostly….we do still get our share of rain…
I have two nieces and two nephews, and every year for their birthdays I sew or make something. I figure I can just be the weird aunt that uses a needle and thread instead of a credit card at Toys R Them (ala Dave Ramsey). For my January birthday-niece, this is what I made: a way so ca-ute doll pillow with clothing to put on it. It’s sort of like a paper doll, but it’s fabric. And did I mention that it’s SO cute?! She’s got sort of a smirk on her face, and of course I had to add the belly button (of course!).

That doll pillow is the cutest thing I've seen! I just ordered a copy of Wee Wonderfuls from my library. Can't wait to get it! Have a great day!

I love the pillow and the clothes! What a great gift idea! Did you use velcro to secure the clothes to the doll?
Keri Mae says
I think you'll enjoy the book, Rebecca; it's full of all sorts of neat ideas using all kinds of materials.Kristine, the doll is made from felt. And the clothes are backed with felt, so they just stick to one another, no velcro needed (isn't that cool?!).By the way…just a hint for making the clothes:I didn't cut out the little pieces of pattern and then try to trace and cut. I'm just not that talented! Instead, I layered the felt, then the fabric, then the rough cut out of the pattern piece. Then I put all three together under my sewing machine needle and just sewed directly on the paper pattern line. When done, I carefully ripped the pattern paper off and voila! A perfectly formed piece. I used copy paper, but it would have been way better to copy onto tracing/thinner paper.Glad you all like! It was fun!
