Well, I was pretty satisfied making these hot dog buns (for the first time!) because I had already figured out hamburger buns. I basically made the dough, stretched them long, and grilled it on both sides (rather than baking). You can google “make hot dog buns” for lots of different recipes.
Then I cut the middles apart and grilled the insides.
And oh boy did the kids love it! They almost never get hot dogs at home, so this was a real treat, loaded with mustard and sauerkraut.
And then, to ruin it all (sorry), I came across a study that basically seemed to say, “feed your kid a hot dog, and increase their risk for cancer”. I know too many kids with cancer (two…but that’s two too many)! Thankfully, the hot dogs I served were organic, all beef, with no nitrates or nonsense of that kind. Still, I have to wonder…what’s IN those things? Guess I better leave off hot dog bun making and figure out pita bread instead.
Hope your day is glory-ous!

Yes, as far as the hot dogs, I think it's the nitrates and nitrites that contribute to cancer.EM
