My voice went out several months ago, slipped away like a creek running downstream leaving the source dry and empty. It was a blessing. Years of quietly teaching my children to please not to call for me, to instead do the work of finding me and meeting my eye, did nothing. I wasn’t discipled enough to not answer their calls.
And then, one morning, I couldn’t answer back.
After about half of dozen “Mo-ooom!”s, I’d put on a smile, knowing that within seconds I’d see a sheepish child, confessing error. How much better to see their little faces quietly entreating me for their needs instead of simply hearing their raucous voices echoing off the walls.
A year ago I lost my first blog, too, knowing the Lord’s will for me was to seek Him more. To allow Him tune my ears. To teach me to listen more. Quietness.
Turns out He’s heard plenty from my lips. He wants to see my face, too. What about you? Have you spent time with Him today?
Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
