It is very possible to heal dental cavities through the use of nutrition. In fact, decay is caused by a lack of vitamins and minerals in the diet. In this podcast, we’ll challenge what *really* causes cavities, and question the current practices of treating them. Get ready to be armed to fight for the health of your family in a whole new way. Long podcast, but lots to ponder!

* Filling a tooth only takes care of the symptom of decay; it doesn’t do anything for the underlying cause of it, nor does it prevent the tooth from further decay.
* Your teeth were not created to decay but to keep clean and hard and remineralize until the day you die. Naturally occurring pits and fissures do not necessarily mean a cavity “will” form.
* Isolated people groups had amazing tooth and gum (and bodily!) health until modernized foods showed up. Problems showed up sometimes even within older and younger siblings. Tooth decay is NOT “genetic”.
* Diet is hugely influential in promoting healthy teeth and avoiding structural problems. The diet should be made up of foods that are: fresh, local, nutrient dense, unprocessed, high in fat and water soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K), and full of absorbable minerals. In other words, feel free to ignore the middle of your grocery store and the USDA food pyramid.
* Add to your kitchen: fermented cod liver oil or grass-fed organic liver, summer pastured butter or butter oil, greens, sea veggies, ferments, whole raw milk, fish and fish stock, bone broths and marrow, organic organ meat, sea salt, grass-fed animal fat, fresh ground and soaked grains, and plenty of cooked vegetables and/or their juices.

I just listened to your episode about dental cavities. Is the cod liver oil better than a fish oil with a vitamin D supplement? Is the vitamin D the big deal with the cod liver oil?
thanks!!!

Hi Kim
In my opinion, the Green Pasture cod liver oil/butter blend is the best way to go. It is really high in the fat soluble vitamins (not *only* D). It is expensive however and I admit to not being 100% consistent with using it in our family. That being said, no one around here has dealt with a cavity yet and I attribute that to God’s grace and to consistent wholesome food choices.
