As a user/visitor of A Happy Home Media, we want you to know about the information we collect and how it is used.
Who we are
We are Tom and Keri Mae Lamar of A Happy Home Media. Our website address is: https://www.ahappyhomemedia.com.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Contact forms
If you utilize the Contact Form to communicate with us, in addition to the message you send, our system will store your name, email address, IP address, and (if you provide it) your website url.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
This site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Three common examples of this are our use of Youtube videos, Amazon affiliate links to books and products, and the audio player/download link for our podcasts. Youtube’s Privacy Policy can be found here, Amazon’s found here, and Libsyn, our podcast media host, can be found here.
Analytics
Anyalytics help us know what content is resonnating with our readers and listeners… and what is not. In addition to our tracking of stats through Libsyn (see section above), we utilize the statistics function of Statcounter.
Podcast Subscription
If you subscribe to our podcast, some of your information (like your email if you opted for email notification) is stored in a system we have access to. For this we use Google’s Feedburner product. See their Privacy Policy here.
Newsletter
We have a newsletter. The service we use is MailChimp. Their Privacy Policy is here.
Financial Support
We encourage our listeners and readers to support our content infrastructure and creation. To make this a reality, we utilize the Patreon platform. Their Privacy Policy can be found here.
Who we share your data with
No one. Your personal information stays with us.
Understand that if you leave a comment on a post, however, your user name and comment (provided we approve it) will be publically visible. And in some instances we may refer to a comment on our podcast (or in an article) and may reference your name (typically only first name or user name).
If you utilize our contact page to communicate with us (or email directly), we may gain your permission to read part of your question or comment on our podcast (or reference in an article) and mention your name. In cases where we are unable to reach you to secure permission, we may opt to cloak your question or comment in such a way as to not reveal your identity.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have have left comments on our site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Should a Data Breach occur
In line with the Fair Information Practices – though we have security measures in place – in the event of a data breach, we will notify those whose personal information may have been compromised via email in a prompt and timely manner.
