OR….Five Things You Already Know But Need To Hear (Again)
Well, it was pretty fun to ride my bicycle to our mobile library, climb aboard the bus, and *gasp* see MY BOOK ON THE SHELF!! I admit I took it off the shelf, looked at how many times it had been stamped (two), and then quickly rode home and yelled at my 16yo to quick-go-take-a-photo! Yes, I’m a silly rabbit.
I’ve been so far away from my computer and blogging that it took me a minute to remember how to put up a post! It is amazing how much thought and time is involved in blogging, in all of the uploads and keeping up with the technology for it and so forth. It’s something that I do miss, but life hasn’t exactly been as slow as I want it to be lately.
In a nutshell, we’ve unexpectedly moved. And we’re currently bouncing around homes until another rental is ready. Many, many times I have written up blog posts and framed photos in my head, but practically I was busy with downsizing more, packing boxes, finding homes for some of our beloved animals, and marking up my calendar with where we’ll go and how and where we’ll eat and what we’ll do and how we’ll do it all. And in the midst of all of that, reminding my family that *I* am not the glue, *Jesus* is. And He has been so, so faithful. We have been cared for in our chaos and confusion, provided for in every manner, and continue to abide in the peace that surpasses all understanding even as we walk unsure of what is next.
So….what better timing to release another podcast? This is near to my heart, this idea that you ALREADY possess the power to live a more present and deliberate life. Truly, most of our lives are well within our means of the choices we make, and our lives frequently reflect how we choose (or not) to walk in humility, repentance, honesty, and obedience to our God.
Enjoy the podcast, and I hope to check in again once we are settled. And thank you all for your encouragement and support!

Loved this podcast! I really resonated with the “no” to filling the calendar and to adding un-necessary “stuff” to our homes/lives. Also,I found it interesting what you said about our brains being taxed by too much input. What a challenge it is to keep life in balance. I really appreciate you and Tom working on that and sharing your ideas with your listeners. With life in such a frenzy, it really touches most everyone out there. Hoping and praying your move goes well!

I stumbled across your podcast in search of “homesteading” several months ago. 😉 Wow! I had no idea I was truly in store for so much more with A Happy Home Podcast! Faith, family, finances, farming’ friendship and Present. I unplugged from all forms of social media about 9 months ago (conviction from the Holy Spirit). As you said “a social media fast” will reveal things to you that you can’t pay attention to while maneuvering the rushing river of social media! And “downsizing?” I found out all about that. In 2013, my family (hubby, 3 boys and a large chocolate lab) and I bought a piece of land, moved out of a 5 bedroom house and into a camper with high hopes of building our own house in order to be completely debt free. Almost there. Thank you for your words of encouragement and affirmation on your podcast. You and your husband and your podcast have blessed me so!

I stumbled across your podcast looking for homemaking/homeschooling podcasts to listen to while I take care of my newborn! It has truly blessed me and I wanted to thank you for all of the time and energy that you and Tom have put into them. I am saving up to buy your book “Present” and I look forward to when your book “Slow Schooling” comes out! My hubby and I are adjusting to parenthood and it has been a very sanctifying process. Your podcast has helped me to realize that I haven’t been putting my trust in the Lord in ALL areas of my life and that I haven’t been leaning on Him to get my through these bleary tear filled early days of motherhood. I know that the days are long but the years are short! Thank you again! The Lord has been using you to help point me back to Him! 🙂 God Bless!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Vanessa. Enjoy your very sweet babyhood years; they do pass quickly!
